12 Bit Two Channel Analog Output Board
For IBM/PC/XT/AT and Compatibles
The DAC-02 is a two channel analog output board for the IBM PC which consists of two separate double buffered 12 bit multiplying D/A channels plus interface circuitry. The D/A converters may be used with a fixed DC reference as conventional D/A's. On board references of -5 and -10V provide output ranges of 0 to 5V, 0 to 10V, +5V, +10V and
4 to 20 mA for process control current loops. Alternatively, the D/A's may be operated with a variable or AC reference signal as multiplying D/A's, the output is a product of reference and digital inputs. With an AC reference, the unipolar provides 2 quadrant (positive output only) multiplication and the bipolar outputs provides 4 quadrant (positive and negative) operation. 12-bit accuracy is maintained up to 1 kHz. For ease of operation, a floppy disk comes with this board which contains a calibration program for adjusting the various ranges on the board. It actual draws a picture of the board and points to the appropriate control for adjustment. An installation program also illustrates the base address switch settings based on the entered values. Finally, a fully documented program describes the simple steps needed to program the DAC-02 in detail. The DAC-02 is addressed as an I/O device using 8 I/O locations and may have its I/O address set by means of an on-board DIP switch.
